Vigil for solo trumpet by Ronald MacNiven: In memory of John Wallace

The composer writes:

My piece, Vigil for solo trumpet, was written in memory of John Wallace who passed away last month.

Usually slow and deliberate in my process, I sketched the work out in an afternoon, finalising it that evening.

Robert Frost memorably defined poetry as the point where an emotion finds its thought, and the thought finds words. Music, I think, transcends words, and this idea was at the forefront of my mind throughout the creation of the piece.
