Abstract
This video attempts to examine how UAE constructs its local and popular cinema by looking at the nation-first large budget film, City of Life (Ali Mustafa, 2009). The Emirati cinema is becoming an important component of the Middle Eastern’ film industries, which represents the likelihood of Gulf film industry.
The video questions whether City of life‘s plot and narrative were borrowed or remade aspects of Hollywood popular cinema.
