Abstract

Na(x)Se(y), prepared by the reaction of sodium and selenium in liquid ammonia, has been reacted with Ph2PCl in THF/ethanol to give a mixture of Ph2PSeH, Ph2P(Se) OP(Se)Ph2 and the title compound (5) which was characterized by X-ray crystallography. Compound 5 consists of a central polymeric core built up of Na(H2O)6 and Na(H2O)3 (thf)(Se) units with additional hydrogen-bonded Ph2PSe2- anions.
