Abstract
Tetraselenium-tetranitride, Se4N4, dissolves in liquid ammonia at high pressure (ca 50 atm.) and reacts with PtCl2(PMe2Ph)2 to give Pt(Se2N2)(PMe2Ph)2 in quantitative yield. If the reaction is performed using (Se4N4)-N-15 the product is obtained with a low ( < 20%) degree of N-15 labelling; in contrast (Se4N4)-N-15 may be recrystallized from ammonia with no loss of N-15 content, indicating that, unlike S4N4, it does not react with ammonia as it dissolves.
