Abstract

une 22nd 2018 marked the 70th anniversary of the landing of the former World War II German navy troopship, the SS Empire Windrush at Tilbury Dock in Essex, heralding the arrival of 492 recruited West Indian labourers (including, for some, their children), and the beginning of the first post-war mass migration from the
Caribbean to the UK.
