This book deals with St Andrews as the first town in the world to be thoroughly documented through photography. The work of the 1840s photographers is viewed alongside the writing in St Andrews of one of the nineteenth century's most scandalous books, Robert Chambers's 'Vestiges of the Natural History of Creation.'
