Abstract

Bis(3,5-di-tert-butylcatecholato)(phenanthroline)vanadium(iv) 1 is prepared, and oxidised with silver hexafluoroantimonate to give its vanadium(v) analogue 2; both complexes are characterised by X-ray crystallography revealing significant differences in their coordination geometry.
