Abstract

The anthocyanins are a class of polyphenols found in nature, which are widely distributed throughout the plant kingdom and are thought to possess antioxidant properties. Methodology previously developed in our group for the regioselective placement of C-13-atoms into aromatic rings is being applied to the synthesis of C-13-labelled anthocyanins-namely cyanidin-3-glucoside and delphinidin-3-glucoside.
