Abstract
After Russia’s full-scale imperialist onslaught on Ukraine in 2022, practitioners of Russian-cum-Eastern European studies in the west vowed to decolonize and de-center their field. Half a decade later, their rhetoric did change but not the long-established unabating focus on Russia, which perpetuates for free the Kremlin’s insidious influence on the western academia and public opinion.
