Russia e Asia Centrale: primazia, perdita d’influenza, o egemonia negoziata?

Translated title of the contribution: Russia and Central Asia: primacy, loss of influence, or negotiated hegemony?

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationArticle

Abstract

Relations between Russia and the five Central Asian republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are analyzed here using three interrelated analytical prisms: political and security; economic drivers; and cultural and humanitarian relations. The analysis is further contextualized and placed within a global process of realignment of great powers, shifting balances of power, both material and immaterial changes in international politics, and the rise and emergence of new regional actors. Therefore, the important role of extra-regional actors, such as the United States and China, in shaping intra-regional relations will also be examined.
