Abstract

The reactivity of a variety of alpha,beta-unsaturated acyclic and cyclic ketones towards regioselective hydrogenation in the presence of Wilkinson's catalyst was determined. Hydrogenation of sterically hindered alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones proceeded at inefficient rates, if at all.
