N2 - Quadrupole electro-optic deflectors were fabricated from 3 mm x 3 mm x 11 mm crystals of lithium-tantalate and lithium-niobate. These devices had a low optical loss and produced linear beam deflections of 6 mrad/kV. The deflectors were used to Q-switch a miniature-diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser and this produced 1.5-ns pulses of 7 kW peak power at a repetition rate of 20 kHz.
