Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter explores definitions and measurements of poverty, the impact of austerity and the effects of social exclusion and will then examine a range of policies and strategies adopted by the government in an attempt to improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in society. Discussion focuses on the effects of so-called ‘austerity measures’ and consider to what extent policy responses have been successful in ameliorating the effects of such phenomena.
