Abstract

This edited collection of essays is the first book devoted to Pop Art and its relationship to cinema. The contributions explore the ways in which themes and aesthetics associated with Pop Art have been reworked, expanded, or jettisoned by experimental filmmakers around the world. Examples are primarily drawn from the 1960s and 1970s; a global approach is adopted to enable examination of the ways in which Pop approaches were reshaped in non-Western contexts.
