Abstract

We report the results of absorption and photoluminescence (PL) studies on solutions and films of the soluble PPV derivative poly (p-phenylenevinylene-co(2,5-dioctyl)p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV-co-DOctPV). The PL is broadened and red shifted in the film and we have investigated the role of solvent on the optical characteristics. The possibility of aggregation has been investigated using photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy. We report measurements of the effect of excitation intensity on the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum and observe spectral line narrowing.
