Abstract
This paper examines Slote's claim in "Goods and Virtues" that there are traits of character that are both immoral and admirable or, more precisely, that there are character traits that we admire even though they are conceptually inseparable from the tendency to act in ways which are (we think) immoral. I evaluate his arguments for this thesis and those he puts forth against the overridingness thesis. I conclude that he has not provided us with reason to accept either of the positions that he defends.
