Abstract

On March 23rd 1999, a set of TRACE observations in the 171 Angstrom (Fe rx) bandpass was made of active region AR 8496. A wavelet analysis of a bright loop-footpoint to the south west of this active region displays outward propagating perturbations with periods 180-420 seconds at approximately 70-165 km s(-1). We suggest that these oscillations are slow magneto-acoustic waves propagating along the loop, carrying an estimated energy flux of 4 x 10(2) ergs cm(-2) s(-1).
