Abstract

Mononuclear (1) and dinuclear (2) cationic iridium complexes incorporating a bridging 2,5-dipyridylpyrazine ligand have been synthesized and their optoelectronic properties are characterized. Whereas 1 emits in the deep red, 2 is photophysically inactive at 298 K though both luminesce at 77 K in a rigid matrix. The crystals structures for both complexes are also reported.
