Abstract
Molecular analogues of the building units found in synthetic and natural zeolites can be synthesised with a number of different architectures and chemical compositions. These molecules can then be used as a platform for the synthesis of different types of material. In this article I will discuss the types of zeolite-like building blocks that are available and how they can be used to prepare materials as varied as dendrimers, network polymers and crystalline solids.
