Abstract
Herein we report the selective hydrogenation of cyclic imides to diols
and amines, homogeneously catalyzed for the first time by a complex of
an earth-abundant metal, a manganese pincer complex. A plausible
catalytic cycle is proposed based on informative mechanistic
experiments.
