Abstract
This debate provides a critical view of the state of the art of the notion modularity as applied to the understanding of cognitive development. The leading article by Enesco and Delval suggests that the notion of modularity as an alternative to constructivism has failed in developmental psychology. Constructivism would be better supported by current data in developmental psychology and neuroscience. Commentaries by Nunez, Scerif, and Gomila elaborate or refine these conclusions.
