Abstract

The interaction of SnCl2. 2H(2)O and the heptadentate tripodal Schiff base saltren yields in moderate yield the hexacoordinate Sn(IV) complex [Sn(saltren)] Cl (1). In addition, there is extensive destruction of the ligand, yielding the component triamine and aldehydes. The crystal structure of [Sn(saltren)]Cl . (salicylaldehyde) (1 . (sal)), is reported.
