Abstract

It is proved that, in any generalized quadrangle with parameters (q,q**2), the graph associated with a hemisystem is strongly regular. Orthogonal configurations over a finte group are defined, and their main properties are studied. Optimal dissipative conference matrices of order 4k minus 1 are characterized.
