Abstract
Microchip lasers with internal second harmonic generation allow the efficient generation of visible light from particularly compact and readily manufactured devices. This paper reviews the underlying physics of these devices, and points to some of the reasons for their success. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
