Estimation of bond dissociation energies, including DH°(RSCH 2-H), from barriers to internal rotation

Abstract

A linear correlation between C-H bond dissociation energies in molecules of the type RCH2-H and the corresponding barriers to rotation about the ·CH2-R bonds is established and used to derive the C α-H bond dissociation energy of sulphides.
