Eroding Archaeology at the Coast: How a Global Problem is being Managed in Scotland, with Examples from the Western Isles

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter (peer-reviewed)

Abstract

Coastal erosion threatens thousands of sites around the Scottish coast, with the problem being particularly grave in the Western Isles. Much work has been done to try to manage the problem and organisations such as Historic Scotland and the SCAPE Trust have undertaken coastal surveys and produced lists of priorities for future action. They have also managed practical projects, including community excavations at sites threatened with destruction.
