Abstract

We produce a description of the structure of element centralizers within the Higman-Thompson groups V_n. As a corollary to our structure theorem we see that element centralizers in the V_n are finitely generated. Finally, we give a separate short argument which shows that all infinite-cyclic subgroups
within V_n are embedded without distortion.
