Dynamics of flux tubes in the solar atmosphere: Theory.

Bernard Roberts, P Ulmschneider

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The modes of oscillation of a photospheric magnetic Aux tube are reviewed, taking into account both linear and nonlinear aspects. Analytical and computational developments are discussed, beginning with the basic characteristics of linear wave propagation and progressing to a consideration of nonlinearity and the question of the generation of tube waves and the energy flux they transport.
