Abstract

Reaction of (EtO)(2)P(S)NH2 with Ph2P(S)Cl in the presence of NaH gives (EtO)(2)P(S)NHP(S)Ph-2 (1) which has been complexed with Zn, Pd and Pt in Zn [(EtO)(2)P(S)NP(S)Ph-2](2) 2 Pd[(EtO)(2)P(S)NP(S)Ph-2](2), 3 Pt[(EtO)(2)P(S)NP(S)Ph-2](2) 4 and [Pt(PMe3)(2){(EtO)(2) P(S)NP(S)Ph-2}]+BPh4- 5. P-31 NMR studies suggest that 3 and 4 are formed as cis/trans mixtures. The X-ray structure of 1 reveals it to be a H-bonded dimer in the solid state, whilst the structures of 3-5 contain MS2P2N rings in varying non-planar (chair, boat) geometries.
