Abstract
This collection of essays addresses a significant area of Fontane research that has long been neglected: the analysis of Fontane's style. It includes treatments of his letters, journalism, comparative approaches, style and ideology, linguistic analyses, genetic approaches and analyses of Fontane's own style theory. The introduction gives a research overview.
