Dedicated to eternity? The reuse of statue bases in late antique Italy

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter analyses the evidence for the reuse of inscribed statue bases from late antique Italy, arguing that rather than an occasional behaviour, this was an officially accepted practice. It then considers the implications of reuse for our understanding of late antique epigraphic cultures.
