Abstract
The emergence of the coronavirus pandemic on the international scene has profoundly shaken the global scene, leaving a profound impact on sanitary, economic, social, environmental and migratory indicators; and forcing us to rethink and redesign practically all aspects of everyday life. Furthermore, the pandemic has made us realise the sheer magnitude of the digital transformation that the 21st century entails. Indeed, by transferring to the digital realm a myriad of work, collaboration, learning, leisure and socialization spaces —once mostly face-to-face— the global phenomenon of the coronavirus made us aware of the extent to which we inhabit a virtual reality. In this aspect, interstate relations have not been the exception. This article focuses on these issues, particularly by looking at the Latin American experience and reflecting on the challenges that the region faces for the 'post-COVID' world.
