Abstract
Josephson tunneling has been demonstrated between YBCO and lead with the current flowing along the c axis of YBCO. The tunneling current is surprisingly large, and does not follow random statistics when experiments on twinned samples are performed. This phenomenon is not understood. We present a model based on the presence of a surface-enhanced s-wave component to the order parameter which can produce these effects. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
