Abstract
Pre-catalysts of type [PdCl(allyl)(monophosphine)] where the monophosphine is one of the tri-oxo-adamantyl cage phosphines such as 1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-6-phenyl-2,4,8-trioxo-6-phospha-adamantane give very high reactivity in the regioselective hydroxy-carbonylation and alkoxycarbonylation (hydro-esterification) of styrene at 60 degrees C. This high reactivity enables the use of tert-butanol as nucleophile in the alkoxycarbonylation of styrene.
