Abstract
The Cu2+ sublattice magnetisation of the layer oxycarbonates Sr2-xBaxCuO2(CO3) (0 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-equal-to 1.5) is studied by powder neutron diffraction. The solid solutions with 0 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-equal-to 1.35 order antiferromagnetically with magnetic unit cell dimensions of 2a x 2a x 2c, T(N) almost-equal-to 250 K and mu(Cu) less-than-or-equal-to 0.50-mu(B) at 5 K. No long range order is observed for the x = 1.5 sample.
