Andrew Fuller’s Soham farewell sermons: context and text

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The notes of Andrew Fuller’s two sermons preached on his last Sunday (in October 1782) as pastor of the church in Soham, before his departure for Kettering, are unusually full compared to his other sermon notes from the period. They have survived in a shorthand that has previously been regarded as uninterpretable, and so have not previously been published. We describe how we learned to read his shorthand, and present our transcription of the notes, and some context to underline the importance of these sermons.
