Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This essay offers a first major exploration of the intertextual connections between the final version of Flaubert?s Tentation de saint Antoine (1874) and the science writing of Alexander von Humboldt, in particular his last work, Kosmos. To enable the mapping of new frontiers in ?literary science? in both oeuvres, investigation of the literary qualities of Humboldt?s scientific text invites analysis of the science of Flaubert?s artistic work.
