Abstract

A novel aluminium methylphosphonate, with unit cell composition [Al(OH)PO(3)Me . H2O](4), has been prepared hydrothermally; the structure consists of parallel chains of aluminium-oxygen octahedra linked via bridging oxygens and methylphosphonate groups to give inorganic sheets partially covered on both surfaces by methyl groups.
