Project Details
Description
Overlapping crises of climate, economy, migration, energy, and war have led politicians and academics to suggest that Europe is in an unprecedented era of “polycrisis”. Situated in anthropological methods with theories from philosophy and history, TOP critically places time at the heart of understanding polycrisis. It explores how people live the temporal registers of polycrisis in relation to past events, present conditions, and expectations of the future. Critically, what distinguishes ‘polycrisis time’ from ‘normal time’? Research focuses on individual nodes of polycrisis to deliver qualitative knowledge: humanitarianism in Eastern Europe, energy futures in Greece/Turkey, and UK cost of living.
