University of St Andrews Golden Dandelion Award: SD4117 -The Blue Economy and Maritime Security Intersections and Interdependence

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

The Golden Dandelion recognises modules that meet criteria for excellence in
education for sustainable development, as assessed by the Sustainability in the
Curriculum Prize panel of submitted modules. The Award is a sign of appreciation and recognition among staff and students, and we are pleased to see your module contributing to the excellence in learning and teaching at the University of St Andrews.

SD4117 is grounded in transdisciplinary studies and showcases how the theory works in practice. Throughout this module, students will be introduced to the domain of the maritime sector, with topics ranging from the marine ecosystem, the concepts of blue economy and maritime security, the interconnectedness between activities onshore and insecurity at sea, and the profound implications for SDG14. In doing so, this module unravels the fascinating intersections and interdependence of maritime security and the Blue Economy and understands whose interests these concepts represent.
