Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

The UK Faculty of Public Health's 2026 Alwyn Smith Prize was awarded to Professor Peter Donnelly for his outstanding four-decade contribution to population-level health outcomes. He was specifically recognised for his pioneering work in resuscitation, violence reduction, tobacco control, and minimum alcohol pricing.

The Alwyn Smith Prize is the Faculty of Public Health's highest discretionary honour. It is awarded annually to a member or fellow judged to have made the most outstanding contribution to the health of the public through research or practice.

Professor Donnelly's award was formally recognised during the Faculty's annual awards in London, where his citation also celebrated his legacy as a mentor to a new generation of public health professionals.
