Partnership of the Year 2024 nomination

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

Each year, Wikimedia UK organises the UK Wikimedian of the Year Awards to recognise members of our community. The IDEA Network was nominated for the Partnership of the Year award. Text of the nomination below:

This partnership has been going for a few years now, with both Kirsty & Abd running an incredible selection of events in what is basically their spare time. They've managed to reach an incredible selection of people, and run a large number of events which span both those within and outwith the University. You can see more on the project page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IDEA_network/ideanetwork_events and indeed their site on the University's website: https://theideanetwork.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/

This year they both attended Wikimania, and it was wonderful to see their ambition for the plans for the future of the network, carving out a space in which work onto research on Wikimedia can flourish.

Their focus on collaboration as the cornerstone of wiki work is what's really made me want to nominate them, and of course, their engagement with the wider discussions of the ethics of digital work, and access not only to open knowledge but to the ability to contribute to open knowledge.

The winners will be announced at our online community celebration on Saturday 23 November
