J. D. Forbes Collecting Prize 2024 – Highly Commended

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

The J. D. Forbes Collecting Prize is offered by the University Collections Unit at St Andrews in honour of James David Forbes (1809-1868), the eminent scientist and Principal of the United College of St Salvator and St Leonard at St Andrews, whose library was presented to the University in 1929, and encourages University of St Andrews students to build their own collection of printed, manuscript, or photographic material.
My entry for the 2024 prize – which consisted of an annotated bibliography of my collection, an essay on the thematic threads running through the collection that I entitled 'Ex Libris, In Cor' emphasising the connections and networks that appears on the bookshelf in building a collection, and an interview with the judging panel on my collection – was Highly Commended.
