The Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Science was established in 1983 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Ajman, to commemorate his father Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, who was a lover of science and his family. The award is aiming to "Creating a cultural and cognitive environment to enrich the society with distinguished scientific and creative elements, achieve distinctive cultural development of the Emirati society, support scientific research and enrich cultural environment and encourage researchers and innovators to offer distinct and authentic works".
