British Academy/Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowship

Prize: Appointment

Description

This twelve-month Fellowship was awarded to allow me to complete a book on French finances, supplies and war in the age of Louis XIV. It paid for a replacement (Dr Richard Kirwan) to teach full-time in the School of History at St Andrews.

I spent the twelve months away from St Andrews in Berlin in peaceful isolation from British academic currents, and completed the book manuscript 5 days after the nominal end-date of the Fellowship.
