Personal profile
Research overview
Prior to joining St Andrews in 2024, I carried out my PhD research in linguistics and a PgCAP in Academic Practice at the University of Edinburgh. My PhD investigated the influence of a first language on the acquisition of Mandarin as a second language, using psycholinguistic methods. My primary research interests include language acquisition, the linguistic, cognitive impact of bilingualism, and the implications of bilingualism for language teaching and learning. As a passionate linguistics instructor and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), I have taught a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in linguistics and first/second language acquisition, Translation, Chinese at a number of universities in Taiwan, Germany, and the UK.
I am also a member of the Global Research Centre for Diverse Intelligences and would be interested in supervising PGT students with their dissertations in applied linguistics.
