Research overview

Prior to joining St Andrews in 2023, I carried out my PhD research in linguistics and a PgCAP in Academic Practice at the University of Edinburgh. My PhD investigated the influence of a first language on the acquisition of Mandarin as a second language, using psycholinguistic methods. My primary research interests include language acquisition, the linguistic, cognitive impact of bilingualism, and the implications of bilingualism for language teaching and learning. As a passionate linguistics instructor and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), I have taught for a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in linguistics and first/second language acquisition since 2018 in the UK.

I would be interested in supervising PGT students for their dissertation in applied linguistics.
