Research overview
My research focuses on studying modern hot spring systems as analogues for early Mars environments. I analyse the geochemistry and ecology of these extreme environments and use this to predict what sort of life may have existed on Mars 4 billion years ago. My work also looks at the stable isotope fractionations of certain biological processes which could be used as possible biosignatures in the search for past life within extraterrestrial hot spring deposits.
