Education
I received my undergradute degree MA (Hons) Modern History and Russian With Integrated Year Abroad at the University of St Andrews in 2019. As part of my degree I spent one year in Russia, studying at the Yaroslavl and St Petersburg State Universities. I received the St Leonard's Masters Widening Participation Scholarship to continue my studies at St Andrews for the MLitt Russian Studies Programme, graduating with Distinction in 2020. I received the St Leonard's Doctoral Widening Participation Scholarship for my Doctoral degree in 2020.
Doctoral Research
My research is concerned the with representation of LGBT/Queer identities and aesthetics in Russian popular culture, namely through music videos. Informed by gender and queer theories, my research will assess the ways in which music videos that heavily feature queer aesthetics subvert conservative, political discourses in Russia, and how they provoke, reflect and contribute to discussions surrounding LGBT politics in Russia today.
