Biography

Maria Theresa Moerman Ib is a visual artist and writer, who grew up between Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and the UK. Influenced by a peripatetic life, her creative practice engages with autobiography, language and memory through image and text.

Now based in rural Scotland, she is an Associate Lecturer in creative writing at the Open University and is working towards a PhD at the University of St Andrews, supervised by Dr Oli Hazzard. Her research focuses on the divided self of a transnational individual, and how the experiences of a multiple identity may be translated authentically into hybrid, autofictional modes of writing.
